That’s My Jam

Psalm 32:7 says, "You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance."

These verses provide us with a beautiful picture of God's sheltering and protective love. In these words is a message of hope, security, and deliverance in the presence of our Heavenly Father. This verse paints a vivid picture of God's rejoicing over us, singing songs of victory and salvation because He loves us more than we can imagine.

What song are you singing during life’s troubles? Are you singing your favorite song of praise or worship? Or are you singing God’s own song of deliverance over you?

God Loves You

Zephaniah 3:17 begins with these words: "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."

The Mighty Warrior who saves, your God, takes great delight in you. What a profound thought—that the Creator of the universe delights in you! God approves of you and clothed you in the image of His very own Son. God doesn't merely tolerate us; He rejoices in us. He takes joy in our existence and our faith because we are His sons and daughters.

In His boundless love, God no longer rebukes or condemns us. His forgiveness and grace cover our sins, and He does not hold our past mistakes against us. Instead, He offers us forgiveness and a fresh start, allowing us to move forward in His love and favor.

As we saw in Psalms 32:7, perhaps the most striking image in Zephaniah 3:17 is that of God rejoicing over us with singing. Imagine the God of the universe singing over His children with joy and delight! This is a testament to the depth of God's love and His desire for us to experience His joy and peace.

The Very Source of Love, Loves You!

In his first epistle after the Resurrection, the Apostle John wrote the following:

“God is love…” (1 John 4:16b).

We think that love is native to us, but the Bible teaches something very different. It teaches that God is actually the origin and source of love. No other virtue is directly identified with God’s nature in all of Scripture except love. John taught us that God's very nature and essence is love.

Zephaniah 3:17 is a reminder of the incredible love and joy that God has for His people. He is not a distant and dispassionate God; He is the Mighty Warrior who rejoices over us with singing. May we seek Him, trust in His forgiveness, and rejoice in His deliverance. In doing so, we will find ourselves dwelling securely in the shadow of His wings, where no trouble can ultimately harm us, and where His love, grace, and mercy will sustain us through every storm. Amen.
