Consecration

Joshua 3:5-16 New International Version (NIV)

Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.”

To consecrate means to purify, set apart or dedicate for a special purpose, and to make sacred.

Psalm 40:6: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require." Christ takes away the first law (animal sacrifice according to the Law) to establish His will, i.e., to make it possible for anyone to obey His will. How? Because Christ *already* obeyed the Father's will perfectly. On that basis, we have *already been* consecrated.

More than anything, perhaps the Old Testament's primary theme is: Without the permanent union of the Spirit with your spirit, it’s impossible to believe right."
